Booknetic / Marketing Addon
Setting up the channels
Connect email, Twilio SMS and Twilio WhatsApp for Marketing campaigns, set the default WhatsApp Messaging Service SID, and decide which SaaS plans get which channel.
Marketing does not send messages itself. Each channel goes through the Booknetic workflow add-on you already use for notifications, with the credentials you set there.
- Install and activate Booknetic’s Email workflow add-on.
- Make sure Booknetic can send email. Use Send test email in the campaign form to check.
The email campaign queue only runs while the Email workflow add-on is active.
SMS — Twilio
- Install and activate the Twilio SMS workflow add-on.
- Enter your Twilio credentials in that add-on’s settings.
Send test SMS in the campaign form sends to a number you type. If something is wrong, it shows Twilio’s error.
WhatsApp — Twilio
WhatsApp only delivers pre-approved message templates. Marketing sends only approved Twilio Content Templates, so there is no free-form WhatsApp message to write. You need three things.
1. Twilio WhatsApp credentials
Install the Twilio WhatsApp workflow add-on. Enter your Account SID and Auth Token under its WhatsApp Twilio settings.
These credentials are site-wide. On Booknetic SaaS, every tenant’s WhatsApp campaigns use the platform owner’s Twilio account.
2. Approved Content Templates
Create your templates in Twilio and submit them for WhatsApp approval. Marketing reads them from Twilio (Sync templates in the WhatsApp campaign form) and lists each one with its status:
- approved templates first, marked
[APPROVED]; - then pending, rejected, paused and unsubmitted templates.
Only an approved template can be saved into a campaign or sent. Marketing checks the template’s approval again before every batch.
3. The default Messaging Service SID
WhatsApp campaigns are sent through a Twilio Messaging Service, and that service must include your WhatsApp
sender. You can find the SID in Twilio under Messaging → Services. It starts with MG.
- Booknetic SaaS: the platform owner sets it in the SaaS admin, Marketing → Settings → WhatsApp Campaigns → Default Messaging Service SID, then clicks SAVE SETTINGS.
- Regular install: the site admin sets it on Booknetic → Marketing, in the WhatsApp card.
The field accepts MG followed by 32 letters and numbers, or nothing at all, which clears it. A campaign keeps
the SID it was saved with. If the SID is missing, the WhatsApp campaign form says so and points to where it is
set.
Which plans get which channel (Booknetic SaaS)
Each channel is a tenant capability under Workflow in your SaaS plans:
- Email campaigns
- SMS campaigns
- WhatsApp campaigns
A tenant sees a channel only if its plan has that capability, and only if the plan has Workflow switched on. Inside a tenant, Booknetic’s user capabilities decide who can do what. For example, Email has separate capabilities for viewing campaigns, creating them, sending, deleting, managing templates, viewing logs and managing the suppression list.
